Summary

This position is for a Storage and Server System Architect. As system architect, one will define the next generation architecture of the Storage/Server systems, lead new technology research, study market trends, be our customers interface and lead Celestica’s design team in the Storage/Server space. Although the position is primarily hardware based; the candidate must interface with software/firmware, mechanical, thermal, layout, SI, and test teams as part of the overall system architecture. Candidates must have strong knowledge in Server design, JBODs and Storage controllers and subsystems, as well as implementation in Enterprise class systems and Cloud infrastructure. Experienced in the implementation of x86 based designs as well as knowledge in Ethernet, FC, SCSI, NVMe, SAS and PCIe protocols. Experience in rack level integration design will be a plus.

Detailed Description

  • Define Complex Server/Storage/Converged platform solutions and lead a multi-disciplined team through implementation. Extensive and focused engagement through EVT, phasing out thereafter. Ensure that overall design quality metrics are met.

  • Develop and maintain close technical relationships with suppliers/partners on product roadmaps and technologies.

  • Lead the RFQ technical response teams.

  • Deliverables include System Specifications, Marketing Requirement Documents (MRD), Product Requirements Documents (PRD), etc.

  • Act as the primary technical interface between Celestica and our customers.

  • Provide technical support to business development teams to assist in the winning new business.

  • Participate in the selection and hiring of design team resources as required.

  • Identify and Champion process improvement efforts as needed.

  • Participate in standards committees and industry groups as assigned.

  • Prepare and present technical presentations to customers, industry groups, tradeshows, etc.

  • Maintain current on industry trends and future technology and market opportunities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Successful experience architecting and delivering server/storage/converged products to market.

  • Excellent Customer presentation skills. Interface and interact with large OEM customers on ongoing product related issues and new product design concepts.

  • A broad knowledge of current digital and analogue components.

  • Successful New Product Introduction (NPI) launch.

  • Extensive knowledge of system level power, cooling, mechanical, SW/FW and electrical design integration and engineering tradeoffs.

  • Experience working with Asian based design teams is desired.

  • 5 years’ experience as a direct line functional manager is desired.

  • Prior participation in industry groups and associations is desired.

  • System level integration, interoperability and test experience is desired.

  • System level manufacturing test experience is desired.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual capable of working with a minimum of supervision in a dynamic team environment. Good interpersonal skills: be able to communicate effectively with members of other teams, departments and clients; as a high degree of liaison is needed.

Typical Experience

● Minimum of 12 years server/storage hardware design experience.

● Minimum of 5 years of server/storage experience at the system level.

Typical Education

  • BS in Electrical Engineering required; MSEE preferred.

Travel

  • International travel required, approximately 4-6 trips per year.

  • Domestic travel to support customer and internal meetings as required.
