Summary

The Optical/Mechanical Test Engineer maintains and supports complex optical-mechanical systems for industrial meta-verse devices in a manufacturing production environment. This individual will be responsible for deploying and maintaining geometric and spectral optical test at final device assembly test. This individual will also support these systems through deployment and sustaining parts of the product lifecycle and will be responsible to iterate system designs for future generation products.

The Optical/Mechanical Test Engineer works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product testing. This individual will also have the opportunity to work on electrical, mechanical and automation technologies. As a core team member this individual will also optimize designs for manufacturing, test, supply chain and reliability.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Lead the implementation, validation and qualification of technical solutions in multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling.

  • Provide technical leadership and direction to a team of engineers. Will be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas

  • Review, interpret and may negotiate customer requirements/specifications and provide customer feedback

  • Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs. E.g. creation of CAD, mechanical drawing, Bills of material, diagrams, drawings, etc.

  • Testing, simulation and measuring (including troubleshooting) the performance of systems

  • Solve complex problems

  • Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.

  • Analyze and interpret data and create reports and documentation

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Experience in Optical imaging, projection, and display space.

  • Experience designing optical test/calibration equipment

  • Fluent in mechanical CAD navigation including 3D CAD, drawings. Creo experience is a plus.

  • Experience with industry standard test instrumentation: Trioptics, Flir, Ocean Insight, etc.

  • Experience designing, building and maintaining integrated optical systems (integration with mechanical, electrical, and industrial automation systems)

  • Experience in technical writing in SOP processes.

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.

  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.

  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

  • Occasional travel may be required.

Typical Experience

  • 1 to 3 years of related experience; Experience in similar job roles

Typical Education

Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
