Summary

Works on agreements of diverse scope & complexity where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. May influence others outside of team to ensure goals are met and resolves conflicts in an effective manner. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may have a negative impact on the company's legal liability with mid size customers. Receives guidance primarily on unique, unusual, or controversial problems or questions. May lead a work group or project team with some coaching from own supervisor, providing advice and guidance in area of contracts management. Seeks out new avenues for building internal and external relationships; maintains contacts with existing relationships.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
Supports the negotiation of standard agreements and medium-large customer contracts as part of a multi-disciplinary team including representatives from Business Development and Sales, Finance, Legal and various business units.
Identifies stakeholders and ensures that all relevant interests are represented.
Requires ability to evaluate and prioritize often-divergent interests.
Makes decisions with respect to balancing the need to be customer-responsive with that of protecting the company's interests.
Evaluates risks associated with contract terms and provides management with contractual risk analysis.
Liaisons with legal counsel and provides support to all participants in the contract process.
Maintains all aspects of the administration of contracts.
Works independently on standard contract documents of medium to high complexity, with more direction and supervision in more complex situations.
Administers contracts, including providing ongoing support for completed contracts including contract interpretation and analysis; maintenance and update of on-line documentation and filing system; preparation of comparative reports, summaries and checklists.
May periodically be asked to work on special projects (examples include: improving accessibility of contract terms to business unit account teams; preparation of marketing materials such as warranty program letters; review of standard form contracts; review of confidentiality levels).
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
Excellent writing and communication skills and significant experience with contract work and legal concepts.
Ability to draft basic to medium complexity contractual documents is a key element of this position. Knowledge and experience in the preparation, negotiation, drafting and administration of contracts in a commercial or government setting is critical.
Excellent attention to detail.
Good perception management and customer relationship skills.
Physical Demands
Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
Overnight travel may be required
Typical Experience
- Six to Eight years of applicable experience
Typical Education
Bachelor's degree in related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
